D20 Combat:
- Attack rolls use D20 system.
- Natural 1 misses; natural 20 hits and creates a critical threat.
- Critical threats use a separate confirmation roll.
- Weapon damage supports dice notation such as
2d6 + 2. - Damage types include physical, energy, cold, fire, ion, sonic, etc (kotor style).
- Weapons support critical ranges, critical multipliers, attack modifiers, bonus damage, upgrade sockets, and one- or two-handed classifications.
- Armor applies Defense bonuses and Dexterity caps.
- Curve-based attribute progression; modern scaling without losing tabletop-style modifiers.
Stats, Equipment, and Inventory:
- Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma modifiers.
- Configurable attack progression and combat bonuses.
- Weapon and armor equipment with automatic stat recalculation.
- Stackable items, credits, inventory updates, equipment swapping, and item-detail UI.
- Save and load support for player position, attributes, equipment, inventory, and progression.
Dialogue and Terminals (Thank you Nathan's Dialogue Manager):
- Branching Dialogue Manager conversations.
- Terminal-style dialogue screens for logs, cameras, medical systems, and security consoles.
- Dialogue actions can unlock doors, activate objects, call target methods, or trigger custom world events.
- Skill-gated options such as
\[Computer Use: 4]. - Reusable terminal action syntax, such as
unlock:morgue_door, instead of terminal-specific scripts.
UI:
- KotOR-inspired HUD, character, inventory, equipment, dialogue, terminal, pause, and notification screens.
- RichTextLabel BBCode support for item descriptions and holographic terminal presentation.
- Animated notifications, combat feedback, floating damage, target health bars, hit effects, and interaction prompts.
Built for Extension:
- Resource-driven weapons, armor, stats, dialogue, and item definitions.
- Reusable interactable base classes for terminals, containers, dialogue NPCs, and level transitions.
- Clear separation between UI, gameplay objects, combat calculation, and persistent data.
What Changed From the Old Page:
- current project uses real-time movement and hitboxes.
- Replaced the systems such as: attack rolls, critical confirmation, stat curves, damage types, equipment, terminals, and dialogue actions.
- Expanded weapon support from generic “dice rolls” into resource-driven weapon data: damage dice, critical ranges, bonus damage, upgrade slots, and attack modifiers.
- Added skill-gated terminal and dialogue choices as a headline feature.
- Changed “event triggers” into a reusable terminal action system rather than implying hardcoded one-off scenes.
- Removed/softened features that are not yet visible in the current implementation:
- Drag-and-drop inventory
- Context menus
- Finite state machines
- Character-creation skill allocation
- Level-transition autosaves
